Terms and Conditions
Introduction
These Terms and Conditions govern your registration and participation in the programme, event or activity (“Programme”) hosted by Viriya Community Services (“VCS”). By registering for or participating in the Programme, you agree to abide by these Terms and Conditions, including the Code of Conduct outlined below.
1. Code of Conduct
To ensure a positive, respectful, and professional environment, all individuals are required to adhere to the following Code of Conduct during the Programme:
A. General
- You agree to act within all relevant laws and regulations and abide by the policies and procedures of VCS during your participation in the Programme.
- You agree to support the mission of VCS by contributing your skills, experience, knowledge, time, and resources to help achieve the objectives of the Programme.
- You will respect confidentiality regarding sensitive information about VCS, the Programme, and other individuals. You agree not to disclose or misuse any confidential or proprietary information encountered during the Programme.
- You agree to use VCS’ assets and resources, including property, premises, equipment, materials, and venue space, only for Programme-related activities and in a responsible manner.
- You will take responsibility for your actions during the Programme and ensure that your participation does not disrupt the Programme or cause harm to others. You agree to raise any concerns in an appropriate manner with the Programme organiser(s). While participating in the Programme, you agree to represent VCS professionally, maintaining its values and reputation.
- You will report alleged or suspected violations of this Code and fraudulent or unethical activities in accordance with VCS’ whistle-blowing policy.
B. Managing Interests
- You agree to act in the best interests of VCS and the Programme, prioritising the success and reputation of the organisation over personal gain.
- You agree not to put yourself in positions where your personal interests conflict with your duty to act in the best interests of VCS. If any personal, professional, or financial interests could create a conflict of interest, you will disclose them and ensure they are managed in line with VCS’ policy, so they do not affect your judgment or behaviour.
- You will be mindful not to accept gifts, favours, invitations, entertainment or other forms of personal benefit that could influence your actions or create a perception of favouritism.
C. Health and Safety
- You agree to follow all safety and environmental guidelines and instructions to ensure that your actions do not pose a risk to yourself or others. Your behaviour should contribute to a safe and inclusive environment for all involved.
- You agree to report any health and safety concerns, issues, or situations, whether potential or actual immediately to the Programme organiser(s).
D. Discrimination, Harassment, and Inappropriate Conduct
- You agree to treat all individuals, staff, volunteers, and attendees with respect, courtesy, and professionalism. You will refrain from any wilful or inconsiderate act that may cause harm or distress, whether intentional or unintentional.
- You will respect others’ personal boundaries and diverse viewpoints, and avoid discriminatory, offensive, or harassing language or actions based on race, religion, gender, disability, sexual orientation, or other characteristics. You will not engage in proselytising, politicising, or lobbying efforts.
- Any inappropriate behaviour, including conduct that gives rise to allegations of discrimination, exploitation, or sexual harassment, particularly towards vulnerable persons, and the consumption of alcohol, tobacco, or intoxicants during Programme activities, will not be tolerated.
2. General Terms
- Registration and Participation: By registering for the Programme, you agree to adhere to these Terms and Conditions. Your participation may be subject to specific requirements, including eligibility criteria and completion of necessary forms.
- Data Protection: Personal data provided during registration will be handled in accordance with the VCS Data Protection Notice https://viriya.org.sg/data-protection-notice.
- Indemnity and Risk: You acknowledge and accept the risks associated with participation in the Programme. You agree to indemnify and hold VCS, its officers, employees, agents, and volunteers harmless from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, or expenses arising out of your participation in the Programme, as outlined in the VCS Indemnity and Risk Policy https://viriya.org.sg/indemnity-and-risk-policy.
- Media Consent: By registering for or attending the Programme, you consent to the use of any images, recordings, or media captured during the Programme for publicity or commercial purposes, as outlined in the VCS Media Consent Policy https://viriya.org.sg/media-consent-policy.
- Programme Cancellation or Postponement: VCS reserves the right to cancel or postpone the Programme at its discretion. In the case of cancellation, VCS will notify individuals and provide relevant details on refunds or rescheduling.
3. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Singapore. Any disputes arising from your participation in the Programme will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Singapore.
