Media Consent Policy
1. Objectives
Viriya Community Services (VCS) is committed to respecting and protecting your privacy. This Media Consent Policy outlines how we collect, use, and manage media content (photographs, audio recordings, and video recordings) captured during our programmes, events and activities (“programmes”). The media may be used for publicity or commercial purposes.
By participating in our programmes, you consent to the collection and use of your image, voice, or likeness as outlined in this Policy. Personal data captured will be handled in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) and applicable data protection laws.
2. Scope
- This Policy applies to all participants involved in VCS’ programmes, where media may be captured.
- Media may include, but is not limited to:
- Photographs
- Audio recordings
- Video recordings
- These may be used for:
- Educational and training purposes
- Marketing, promotional, and social media content
- Archival and documentation purposes
3. Media Consent
- By attending or participating in VCS’ programmes, you consent to the capture and use of your image, voice, and likeness in photographs, audio, and video recordings. These media may be used for purposes outlined in this Policy, including but not limited to educational, promotional and archival purposes, as well as event broadcasts and subsequent media productions. If you do not consent, please contact us in advance to discuss alternative arrangements.
If you do not wish to be photographed, recorded, or featured, please inform the programme organiser(s) as soon as possible, and we will make reasonable efforts to exclude you from media capture.
4. Right to Withdraw Consent
You may withdraw your consent at any time by notifying programme organiser(s) or by contacting contact@viriya.org.sg. However, please note that media already captured or published prior to your withdrawal may still be used in accordance with this Policy.
5. Parental/Guardian Consent for Minors
If you are the parent or guardian of a minor participant, you may provide consent on their behalf for media capture and use. By submitting the consent, you confirm that you are the legal guardian of the minor and have the authority to give consent for media usage on their behalf.
6. Ownership and Use of Media
- All media captured during the programme, is the property of VCS. The organisation retains the right to use, reproduce, and distribute this media for the purposes outlined in this Policy.
- Any person who makes, reproduces or uses any recording, data or image for uses other than private non-commercial purposes for the programme, shall assign in writing all copyright and intellectual property rights to

Media will be retained for a period deemed necessary for the purposes outlined above and will be securely disposed of once no longer needed.
8. Third-Party Sharing
Captured media may be shared with third-party service providers or affiliates for purposes of production, distribution, or marketing, in accordance with the VCS Data Protection Notice.
9. Liability Waiver
By consenting to this Policy, you release VCS, its staff, volunteers, affiliates, and agents from any liability related to the use of your media content captured during its programmes.
10. Access, Correction, and Withdrawal of Consent
Participants have the right to request access to, or correction of, their personal data as outlined in the VCS Data Protection Notice.
