Whispering Hearts Family Service Centre
WHFSC has been serving the communities in Boon Lay, Nanyang, and Pioneer Constituencies since 1 August 2001, reaching over 30,000 households. Our mission is to provide holistic, family-centric support to residents through a comprehensive suite of social services. We focus on meeting the psychosocial needs of individuals and families by offering casework, counselling, group work, community outreach, and various programmes designed to improve well-being.
At WHFSC, our approach is grounded in our very own VCS Professional Practice Framework, ensuring that we offer effective, integrated professional support. Our team of social work practitioners provides timely, relevant assistance to individuals and families, addressing a range of challenges such as family issues, parenting and child management, health concerns, marital issues, and financial difficulties.
Casework and Counselling
Our social work practitioners serve as the primary point of contact for residents seeking support. Through comprehensive intake assessments, we connect individuals and families to tailored services and resources. Casework and counselling services are personalised to address various challenges, including family-related issues, health concerns, marital difficulties, and financial or employment challenges. By developing intervention plans collaboratively, we help clients overcome their difficulties and improve their overall well-being.
Community Programmes
Group work and community outreach efforts at WHFSC focus on fostering mutual support, sharing experiences, and mobilising community resources. These initiatives are designed to build a strong, interconnected community where individuals and families can access the support and resources they need.
Currently, WHFSC runs the following group work sessions and community programmes, which address specific community needs through targeted interventions and support:
Group Work
Group work brings together individuals and families facing similar challenges, allowing them to share experiences, provide mutual support, and co-create or collaborate on solutions. Facilitated by our professional social work practitioners, these sessions leverage the strengths of participants, helping to build a supportive community and address shared issues, through mobilisation of community resources.
- Mental wellness support group
- Grief support group
- T.A.P. youth support group
- Bright Owl Project (Children mentoring programme)
Community Work
At Viriya Community Services, we actively engage with the community to bring our services to individuals and families in need, fostering greater community cohesion and building strong mutual support networks. Our community work is guided by a framework focused on engaging the community, building capacity, forming partnerships, and getting to know the people. Through these efforts, we aim to strengthen the community and ensure that those who need support have access to the resources and services available to them.
Some of our community work efforts in WHFSC include:
- Art for All Ages (AAA)
A platform for connective interactions across and between generations in the community through a participatory and experiential art approach. To give residents a voice, improve their mental wellness and connect through experiences.
- Community Outreach
Partnership with community partners to conduct outreach to residents in Boon Lay, Nanyang and Pioneer to understand their needs and share about our social services and programmes.
