Viriya Family Service Centre
VFSC has been serving the communities of Potong Pasir and Joo Seng since July 2013, expanding its outreach to include the Bidadari area in recent years. Deeply rooted in these communities, VFSC is committed to addressing the diverse needs of residents through a comprehensive range of services, including casework, group work, and community outreach. Our approach is grounded in our very own VCS Professional Practice Framework, ensuring a high standard of ethical practice and effective, professional support for individuals and families.
Our team of social work practitioners integrates casework, group work, and community development to provide personalised, holistic support. VFSC is dedicated to empowering residents by addressing their psychosocial needs and promoting a sense of community, well-being, and resilience.
Casework and Counselling
At VFSC, social work practitioners are the primary point of contact for residents seeking support. Through thorough intake assessments, we connect individuals and families with services that are tailored to their needs. Our casework and counselling services cover a wide range of challenges, such as family issues, health concerns, marital difficulties, and financial struggles. By working closely with clients to develop personalised intervention plans, we help them navigate challenges and work towards improved well-being.
Community Programmes
VFSC’s group work and community outreach initiatives are designed to strengthen community bonds and mobilise local resources. These efforts create opportunities for residents to connect, share experiences, and access the support they need.
Currently, VFSC runs the following group work sessions and community programmes, which address specific community needs through targeted interventions and support:
Group Work
Group work brings together individuals and families facing similar challenges, allowing them to share experiences, provide mutual support, and co-create or collaborate on solutions. Facilitated by our professional social work practitioners, these sessions leverage the strengths of participants, helping to build a supportive community and address shared issues, through mobilisation of community resources.
Currently, VFSC runs the following group work:
- Active ageing senior support group
- Caregiver support groups
- Grief support group
Community Work
At Viriya Community Services, we actively engage with the community to bring our services to individuals and families in need, fostering greater community cohesion and building strong mutual support networks. Our community work is guided by a framework focused on engaging the community, building capacity, forming partnerships, and getting to know the people. Through these efforts, we aim to strengthen the community and ensure that those who need support have access to the resources and services available to them.
Some of our community work efforts in VFSC include:
- Satellite enquiry and intake services at Potong Pasir Constituency’s Meet-the-People sessions
- Coffee Talk, Kampong Friends at Joo Seng
- Community walks and house visits
