The Division of Community Mental Health and Health provides community health services to enhance the quality of life of persons with mental health and health concerns and their families, especially those facing social disadvantages. VCS provides psychosocial services to enhance their capabilities to manage their health concerns and continue to live fulfilling lives in the community.
VCS focuses on supporting individuals with chronic medical health conditions and mental health challenges which can greatly impact the individual and other family members. Social disadvantages also increases the risks of health issues and can lead to other health inequities.
There are two departments in the Division of Community Mental Health and Health: Department of Community Mental Health and Department of Health. Each department focuses on a specific aspect of health to customise appropriate support.
The Department of Community Mental Health focuses on promotion of mental wellness and management of mental health challenges in the community.
The Department of Health focuses on supporting individuals with chronic physical illnesses, especially those from disadvantaged or vulnerable background. It also provides developmental services to promote positive health and enhance capabilities to live life well.
