Viriya Children’s Education Fund

The Viriya Children’s Education Fund (VCEF) aims to support and motivate our children and youths in achieving their academic potential and building a strong foundation towards better life outcome.

 

VCEF compromises of the following:

  • Back-to-School-Packs
  • Viriya Education Fund
  • Viriya - KPMG Scholarship Fund

Objectives:

The Back-to-School-Packs (BTSP) aims to:

  1. Enhance the joy of our children and youths in starting a new school year.
  2. Provide resources to help our children and youths obtain essential school supplies.

Eligibility:

  1. Applicant must be registered as a member of VCS’ programmes or services at the time of registration and remain as member till the time of disbursement of the BTSP;
  2. Applicant must be a Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident;
  3. Applicant must be studying in a government or government-aided primary or secondary school;
  4. Applicant’s net household per capita income should not exceed S$650; and
  5. Applicant’s family members should not possess a total savings of more than S$10,000.

Value of each Back-to-School-Pack:

Total of S$60 worth of vouchers for purchasing of books, stationery and other items related to educational needs.

Terms:

  1. VCS reserves the right to make any changes to the eligibility, value or any terms of BTSP without any prior notice.
  2. VCS reserves the right to make the final decision on the list of recipients of BTSP.

Method of Application:

  1. All applications must be made through and endorsed by employees of VCS in November of every year.

Objectives:

  1. To acknowledge and reward the effort of our children and youths who have achieved good academic improvement despite challenges in academic learning or family financial constraints.
  2. To motivate our children and youths to persevere and work towards better academic results.

Eligibility:

  1. Applicant must be a registered member of VCS’ programmes or services at the time of registration and remain as member till the time of disbursement of the award;
  2. Applicant must be a Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident;
  3. Applicant must be studying in a government or government-aided primary or secondary school;
  4. Applicant must possess good conduct as assessed by his school (based on his/her report card) and by the staff of VCS, where appropriate;
  5. Parents of applicant must possess positive attitude and demonstrate good support as assessed by VCS; and
  6. Applicant must not be receiving any other scholarship and/or bursary (except for the Edusave Merit Bursary or Edusave Scholarship).
  7. Applicant’s net household per capita income should not exceed S$650; and
  8. Applicant’s family members should not possess total savings of more than S$10,000.

Qualifying Academic Criteria:

  1. Overall pass in first language; and
  2. Achieved overall grades of Band 2 or ‘B’ in all academic subjects or achieved improvement of at least one grade point (i.e. 5 marks) in at least two core academic subjects from the previous school examination to the current school examination.

Value of awards:

  1. Primary $500 (cheque will be issued payable in the name of the successful applicant ONLY.)
  2. Secondary $500 (cheque will be issued payable in the name of the successful applicant ONLY.)

Terms of the awards:

  1. Each application for the award is for one year only.
  2. VCS reserves the right to make any changes to the eligibility, value or any terms of the award without any prior notice.
  3. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
  4. VCS reserves the right to make the final decision.

Method of Application:

  1. All applications must be made on prescribed forms obtainable from:
    1. Whispering Hearts Family Service Centre (Tel: 6795 1008)
      Block 646 Jurong West Street 61 #01-142 Singapore 640646
    2. Viriya Family Service Centre (Tel: 6285 8033)
      Block 142 Potong Pasir Avenune 3 #01-224 Singapore 350142
  2. All applications must be endorsed by an employee of VCS and accompanied by the following documents:
    1. A certified copy of the latest school’s examination result;
    2. A photocopy of applicant’s NRIC/Birth Certificate;
    3. A photocopy of NRIC (front and back) of at least one parent or legal guardian;
    4. Latest monthly payslip of applicant’s parents/ guardians and family members or written statement if self-employed.
  3. All completed applications and the relevant supporting documents must be submitted back to any of the centres operated by VCS by the given deadline.
  4. Applications for each year will open on 01 November and end on 20 November, 6pm.

  2. To motivate our children and youths towards academic excellence.

Eligibility:

  1. Applicant must be a registered member of VCS’ programmes or services at the time of registration and remain as member till the time of disbursement of the award;
  2. Applicant must be a Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident;
  3. Applicant must be studying in a government or government-aided primary or secondary school;
  4. Applicant must possess good conduct as assessed by his school (based on his/her report card) and by the staff of VCS, where appropriate;
  5. Parents of applicant must possess positive attitude and demonstrate good support as assessed by VCS; and
