Leong Hwa Chan Si Temple - NKF Dialysis Centre
About Leong Hwa Chan Si Temple - NKF Dialysis Centre
The Leong Hwa Chan Si Temple - NKF Dialysis Centre is the first significant community project of our parent organisation, Leong Hwa Monastery (previously know as Leong Hwa Chan Si Temple). Fund raising started in 1995 and in total, a sum of S$1.8 million was raised to finance the entire capital costs of the centre. The centre was officially opened on 31 March 2002 by Minister Lim Swee Say, then Minister for Environment.
The daily running of the Centre is manned by the National Kidney Foundation (NKF), which has qualified personnel to take care of the dialysis patients. Since the set up of Viriya Community Services in 2001, it has taken over the collaboration with NKF.
The centre aims to provide quality dialysis treatment to its 108 patients.
In addition to dialysis equipment, the centre has an exercise and rehabilitation corner to encourage the patients to stay fit and healthy. Rehabilitation helps to enhance the quality of lives of the kidney patients.
